Director Marketing & Sales (m/f/d)


Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director Marketing & Sales (m/f/d) to lead our Graphite Anode Materials (GAM) business segment in the DACH Region. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, developing effective sales strategies, and establish, develop and manage the sales organization. You will work closely with the international management, cross-functional teams and represent the company in industry events, fostering partnerships and staying up to date with market trends.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and position our Graphite Anode Materials (GAM) business segment to achieve / overachieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Oversee all product management relevant topics of the unit, e.g., portfolio management, market & competition analysis, pricing, budget planning, reporting, strategic market development, etc.
  • Own and lead the sales organization strategies, plans, and processes to increase market share and customer base (including establishment and implementation of controlling and reporting structures such as sales statistics, turnover statistics, offer evaluations etc.).
  • Oversee the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals, including customer relationship management and negotiation of contracts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Technical Support and Product Management, to ensure seamless customer experience and product development aligned with market needs.
  • Represent the company in relevant industry committees and associations on an international level, fostering partnerships and staying up to date with market trends and developments.

The role has a strong focus on the acquisition of new national and international customers (and their subsidiaries) in Europe - and as a second step - in the US market.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (Master or PhD) in a relevant field such as chemistry, materials science, business, or comparable training.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a leading position in sales management, preferably in the battery materials or related industry.
  • Minimum 5 years in sales experience to the automotive industry / in global B2B sales.
  • Proven track record in achieving / overachieving sales targets and driving revenue growth.
  • In-depth experience of selling products in need of explanation.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience in leading and developing sales teams.
  • Solid business knowledge (planning, calculation, budgets, key figures, analyses).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Fluency in German and English.
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally as needed (up to 60%).
  • Very good MS Office user knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vast experience in the automotive industry (or battery materials or related industry) with deep understanding of related procurement processes, with knowledge of market trends and developments.
  • Strong business acumen, with experience in financial analysis and strategic planning.
  • Proven track record of delivering results, strategic thinking skills, and a hands-on approach in overcoming challenges.
  • Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Intercultural competence, experience in managing (international) cross-functional teams and projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English, additional languages are a plus (French preferred).
